Mental sketches and the use of interpretation serve me to portray an imaginary terrain that suggests the topography of Northern California, sometimes of other places. Incredibly at areas are punctuated by abrupt hills of lush greens. Deep bodies of water seem to incise themselves into populated areas. All these being clear indications of the seismic activities that gave shape to this land through the ages.

I imagine a connection between the fractured land and the lives of the people who inhabit it, and from this I draw my inspiration. Dwelling between guration and abstraction I try to revive in my studio practice visual experiences produced by these places. The use of abstraction within the landscape allows me, at the same time, the joy to use paint as freely as possible and on a dierent level the possibility to portray a generic place that’s not specic but is more like an interpretation of the ancestral forces that built these areas through millennia.
